Van Genechten Packaging has held its 1st European Food Safety Symposium in Brussels on June 17th. More than 75 industry experts from the European food industry, food safety authorities, ink and varnish manufacturers, printing machine and board producers joint this event and discussed the regulatory framework and the responsibilities throughout the whole supply chain.
Van Genechten Packaging has asked the highly reputable Fraunhofer Institute from Munich/Germany, to screen the full process at Van Genechten Packaging with regards to food safety. “The view from an external and independent expert has helped us to fully understand the complexity and management of potential migration risks” states Asmus Wolff, Vice-President Supply Chain. “A clear process definition and a close co-operation along the supply chain enables us to be in compliance with the regulatory framework and the good manufacturing practices in order to protect consumers health, customers brand equity, employees jobs and shareholder value” adds Herbert Noichl, CEO.
Van Genechten Packaging is now offering to their customers a “Certificate of Food Compliance”, which stands for:
- protection of valuable and trusted goods and brands
- a structured and agreed process certified by an external and independent third party expert
- stringent corporate requirements for a folding carton producer to qualify
- assessment of generic conformity for each production site
- a defined release process for individual packaging systems
- a pro-active information system
This is Van Genechten Packaging's response to the ongoing discussion about potential migration and food safety with the aim to make folding cartons even better and more sustainable.
